Rohinton D Contractor is the Executive Vice President & Head, Corporate Procurement, EXIM Services & Finance at Godrej & Boyce as well as Non-Executive Director of Godrej Infotech Limited (a wholly owned G&B subsidiary).
As a part of his current role in the Procurement function, Rohinton spearheads several initiatives on Strategic Procurement including major inputs like steel, Supply Chain and digitizing the Procure to Pay systems to improve productivity, accuracy and correctness. Under his leadership, Procurement and International Finance have adopted a ‘Digital-First’ mindset, thereby unlocking productivity and providing insights to all the 14 businesses of the company on commodities and major procurement items, as well as risk management practices including hedging of foreign exchange risks across currencies and tenures.
Rohinton is also responsible for handling Indirect taxes like Customs Duty, Foreign Exchange Regulation Act (FEMA), Import Export Policy in addition to handling EXIM services, exports benefits, customs rules and procedures related to international trade. He has been instrumental in establishing a strong import procurement system.
Rohinton has had experience and roles across functions since he joined Godrej & Boyce as a management trainee in 1988 in areas like Procurement, EXIM, International Banking & Finance, Foreign Exchange and Commodity Management.
As the Director of Godrej Infotech Limited (GITL), he has been pivotal in taking GITL global, by establishing branches in Dubai and Saudi. Under his dynamic leadership LVD Godrej Infotech, a joint venture in Belgium, Godrej Infotech Singapore and Godrej Infotech Americas were also conceived and formed. He is also on the Board of GITL global subsidiaries.
A Commerce Graduate from University of Mumbai, a Fellow Chartered Accountant from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and an Associate Company Secretary from Institute of Company Secretaries of India, Rohinton was selected for CII-Fulbright Leadership Management Programme in 2005 and also completed his Executive Management at Carnegie Mellon University, Illinois, USA. He was awarded ‘Life Fellow Membership’ at Indian Institute of Materials Management and was an active member of the Economic Affairs Committee, Customs Regulations and Foreign Trade Policy of the Confederation of Indian Industry. Rohinton was also a part of the Board of Engineering & Construction Risk Institute, USA.
In his leisure time he enjoys playing badminton, golf, swimming and yoga. He has developed a keen interest in technical analysis using Elliott Wave Theory.
He lives in Mumbai with his family.
